The Viral Sensation: From TikTok to Your Table
It all started with a captivating video scrolling through my TikTok feed – a truly viral recipe for Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta that immediately caught my eye. As someone who appreciates both comfort food and culinary efficiency, I knew this was a dish I had to bring to life in my own kitchen. The concept resonated deeply, especially given its remarkable similarity to one of the most beloved recipes ever featured on the blog: Buffalo Chicken Cheesy Pasta. That existing favorite already highlighted my passion for rich, flavorful chicken and pasta combinations, and this new inspiration promised an equally delightful experience.
Adding to the excitement, I already had a tried-and-true copycat Buffalo Wild Wings garlic parmesan sauce recipe waiting in my repertoire. This was a perfect opportunity to showcase its versatility and irresistible taste in a brand new context. The challenge was clear: take the essence of the viral sensation, infuse it with the beloved BWW garlic parmesan notes, and perfect it into a streamlined, fuss-free recipe that anyone could master. The result? A truly exceptional pasta dish that marries convenience with gourmet flavor, proving that some of the best meals are born from a blend of inspiration and home kitchen innovation.
Why You’ll Adore This Creamy Chicken Pasta Recipe
In my culinary philosophy, there are few things more comforting and satisfying than a generously portioned, super creamy bowl of pasta. But what elevates that comfort to pure bliss is when such a dish is also incredibly simple and quick to prepare. This Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta confidently ticks both boxes, delivering on both luxurious creaminess and remarkable ease. The velvety garlic sauce, infused with the distinctive tang of Parmesan, is nothing short of delicious, creating a symphony of flavors that will have everyone reaching for seconds.
The beauty of this recipe lies in its efficiency: the entire magnificent meal can be expertly prepared on the stovetop in approximately 29 minutes, making it an ideal choice for busy weeknights when time is precious but quality is non-negotiable. For those who prefer a more hands-off approach or desire the convenience of a slow-cooked meal, fear not! I’ve included comprehensive instructions for transforming this stovetop star into an equally impressive slow cooker version. This adaptability ensures that no matter your schedule or cooking preference, you can enjoy this creamy, comforting garlic parmesan chicken pasta with minimal effort and maximum satisfaction.

Essential Ingredients for Unforgettable Flavor
Crafting this irresistible Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta begins with a selection of high-quality ingredients. Each component plays a crucial role in achieving that rich, creamy texture and vibrant flavor profile. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Cooked, Shredded Chicken: To streamline preparation, I highly recommend using pre-cooked chicken. A rotisserie chicken from your local grocery store is a fantastic shortcut – simply remove the skin and shred the breast meat. Alternatively, you can prepare your own using an Instant Pot Shredded Chicken recipe for maximum tenderness. Using chicken breast provides a lean protein that beautifully absorbs the sauce.
- Cream Cheese: For the ultimate indulgence and a truly decadent sauce, opt for full-fat cream cheese. Its richness and smooth consistency are essential for achieving the desired creamy texture and depth of flavor. While low-fat versions might seem appealing, they simply won’t deliver the same luxurious mouthfeel or robust taste that makes this pasta so special.
- Parmesan Cheese: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese is a game-changer here. Its sharp, nutty flavor and superior melting qualities will elevate your sauce significantly. If you’re short on time, a good quality shaker Parmesan can work in a pinch, but the fresh variety truly makes a difference.
- Chicken Broth: This essential liquid forms the base of our sauce, adding savory depth and helping to create the perfect consistency. Choose a good quality broth for the best flavor.
- Garlic Parmesan Sauce: This is where the magic truly happens! My homemade copycat recipe, inspired by Buffalo Wild Wings, is incredibly easy to make in just 5 minutes and offers an unparalleled fresh taste. Find the link to my recipe above. If homemade isn’t an option, you can often find bottled Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic Sauce at major grocery stores or conveniently order it online.
- Heavy Cream: This ingredient is non-negotiable for that signature creamy texture! I strongly advise against substituting heavy cream with milk, as milk lacks the fat content necessary to create such a rich, velvety sauce. Heavy cream is key to the luxuriousness of this dish.
- Penne Pasta: The tubular shape of penne pasta is perfect for catching and holding the creamy sauce, ensuring every bite is coated in flavor. However, feel free to experiment with other pasta shapes like medium shells, rotini, cavatappi, or macaroni noodles, all of which would work wonderfully in this versatile recipe.
Step-by-Step Stovetop Perfection: Crafting Your Creamy Pasta
Achieving this incredibly delicious and creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta on the stovetop is surprisingly simple and swift, designed for maximum flavor with minimal fuss. Follow these detailed steps to create a meal that tastes like it took hours, but comes together in just minutes. For precise ingredient quantities and detailed instructions, scroll down to the dedicated recipe card below.

- Boil the Pasta: Begin by filling a large pot with water and adding a generous pinch of salt. Bring the salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add your chosen penne pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta thoroughly and set it aside, reserving a small amount of pasta water if you desire a slightly thinner sauce later.
- Prepare the Creamy Sauce: While the pasta cooks, heat a large sauce pan or a sturdy Dutch oven on the stove over medium heat. Add the cubed cream cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chicken broth, and your flavorful garlic parmesan sauce. Whisk continuously until all the ingredients are fully combined and the sauce is wonderfully creamy and smooth. Next, pour in the heavy cream and stir it in until everything is perfectly incorporated, forming the luxurious base for your pasta.
- Incorporate the Chicken: Gently stir the cooked, shredded chicken into the velvety white sauce, ensuring each piece is beautifully coated. Reduce the heat on the stove to low and allow the sauce to simmer gently for 5-10 minutes. This simmering time allows the flavors to meld together beautifully and ensures the chicken is warmed through and infused with the rich garlic parmesan essence.
- Combine with Pasta: Now, it’s time to bring it all together. Carefully pour the cooked and thoroughly drained penne pasta noodles into the saucepan with the creamy garlic parmesan chicken sauce.
- Toss and Serve: Using tongs or a large spoon, gently toss the pasta, chicken, and creamy sauce together until every strand of pasta and piece of chicken is evenly coated. Serve immediately while hot and fresh. For an extra touch of freshness and color, garnish with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley, basil, or diced green onions. A pinch of crushed red pepper flakes can be added for a subtle kick, if you’re looking to enhance the flavor profile with a hint of spice.

How to Make It in a Crock Pot (Slow Cooker)
For those days when you need a delicious meal with minimal hands-on effort, this Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta adapts beautifully to a Crock Pot or slow cooker. This method yields incredibly tender chicken and a rich, deeply flavored sauce with just a few simple steps.
- Begin by placing 1 pound of raw, boneless, skinless chicken breasts evenly at the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Pour the garlic parmesan sauce directly over the chicken. Then, add the chicken broth, cubed cream cheese, and shredded Parmesan cheese into the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours. The chicken should be cooked through and easily shreddable.
- Once the cooking time is complete, carefully remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker. Shred the chicken using two forks, then return it to the creamy sauce in the slow cooker. Stir in the heavy cream until everything is well combined and the sauce is smooth.
- While the sauce is finishing, cook your chosen pasta on the stovetop according to the package instructions. Drain it thoroughly, then add the cooked pasta directly into the Crock Pot with the creamy sauce and chicken. Stir everything together gently to ensure all the pasta is coated before serving.
Recipe Variations for Every Palate
This Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta recipe is wonderfully versatile, allowing for numerous modifications to suit different tastes and dietary needs. Feel free to get creative and make it your own!
- Make it Vegetarian: Easily transform this into a fantastic meat-free meal by simply omitting the chicken. Replace the chicken broth with an equal amount of high-quality vegetable broth. The creamy garlic parmesan sauce is so flavorful and satisfying, you won’t even miss the chicken!
- Opt for Chicken Thighs: If you’re a fan of rich, dark meat, chicken thighs are an excellent alternative to chicken breasts. Cook them in your Instant Pot or on the stovetop until tender, then shred them to incorporate into the sauce for a deeper, more robust chicken flavor.
- Go Gluten-Free: Adapting this recipe for a gluten-free diet is simple. Just substitute traditional pasta with your favorite gluten-free pasta. Ensure all other ingredients, like chicken broth and sauces, are certified gluten-free.
- Boost with Veggies: Enhance the nutritional value and add vibrant color by mixing in some cooked vegetables. Stir in 1 cup of fresh spinach (which will wilt down beautifully), steamed broccoli florets, or earthy sautéed mushrooms to make it a more complete meal.
- Add a Spicy Kick: For those who love a bit of heat, introduce some spice! Mix in one teaspoon of red pepper flakes and a teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce, such as Frank’s Red Hot, along with the heavy cream. This adds a delightful warmth that complements the creamy sauce beautifully.
- Herb it Up: Experiment with different fresh herbs. While basil and parsley are classic, try adding fresh oregano or chives for a slightly different aromatic profile.
- Cheese Swap: While Parmesan is key, a small amount of Asiago or Fontina could be added to the sauce for a more complex cheese flavor.

Storage & Reheating Tips: Enjoying Leftovers Just as Much
One of the many joys of this Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta is how well it holds up as leftovers, allowing you to savor its creamy deliciousness for days after. Proper storage and reheating are key to maintaining its fantastic flavor and texture.
Any leftover garlic parmesan chicken pasta should be transferred to an airtight container and stored in the refrigerator. For best quality and safety, consume within 5 days of preparation. This ensures the pasta remains fresh and flavorful, ready for another delightful meal.
When you’re ready to enjoy your leftovers, the pasta can be reheated effectively on either the stovetop or in the microwave:
- To Reheat on the Stovetop: This method is often preferred for maintaining the sauce’s creaminess. Add the pasta to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently, reheating for 5-10 minutes, or until the pasta is heated through to your desired temperature. If you notice the pasta becoming a little dry or the sauce thickening too much, stir in an additional 3-4 tablespoons of chicken broth (or even a splash of water) to bring it back to its luscious consistency.
- To Reheat in the Microwave: For a quick and convenient option, place your desired portion of pasta into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through, until thoroughly warmed. If needed, a small amount of chicken broth can be added before or after heating to revive the sauce.
With these simple tips, your Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta leftovers will be almost as good as the freshly made dish!
